Jaime Escalante was an Inspiration!
Geez, has it really been 22 years since the movie ‘Stand and Deliver’ came out?
He once said that in order to be a good teacher, you must see the potential in EVERY child. Amazing.
For more info, here’s an article that CNN did.
I don’t know about you, but it’s one of my favorites. If you haven’t seen it, you MUST Netflix it. You may have to wait awhile though, because I’m sure there will be people like me that want to watch it again and be inspired by the story of Jaime Escalante and his class.
Sadly, Mr. Escalante died, Tuesday, March 30th. Hearing this made me sad.
By the way, I STILL use the multiply by 9 trick that he ‘taught’ me in the movie.

Is Your Toilet Seat Left Up?
Thankfully we don’t have this problem at our house.
Mostly because if the seat is left up, our dogs will drink out of the toilet and the thought of them taking a drink and dripping that water all over the house makes me cringe and I start seeing germies everywhere.
Somehow, THANKFULLY, the rest of my family agrees with me on this one issue.
But if we did have a toilet seat being left up problem, I have to say this is an adorable solution to it from Blue Cricket Design.

You can find the details here.
Here's what it says if you can't see it:
Don't forget to...
Say your prayers, Live,
Laugh & Love, Choose the
right, Say please & thank
you, remember who you are,
say I love you, look both
ways, and eat your vegetables!
Oh yeah....Flush the toilet and
PUT THE SEATDOWN!!!

I Want, Actually, I Need This Book!
My favorite crafter, ever, Martha Stewart, has come out with a new book. It is “Martha Stewart’s Encyclopedia of Sewing and Fabric Crafts”.

Um, can we say perfect timing?
I have vowed to use my sewing machine more and more, but frankly, I am majorly overwhelmed with learning all of the techniques. So much so that I am often petrified to even try.
I really NEED this book…I MUST have it!
My friend, Cara who turned me onto blogging, is probably laughing at me right now reading this. She has an AMAZING talent for sewing and all things fashion. She wouldn’t need a book. But, I do, because someday, I am going to be good at sewing!

Cute Eggs
I got this in an email last week. It had a whole bunch of eggs with funny expressions and scenarios, but this is the one that I liked the best. Enjoy!

The Housewife Apron - Future Project!
Leave it to Laurel @ Ducks In a Row, one of my very favorite blogs, to come up with another future sewing project for me.
I’ve always wanted to wear an apron around the house on the weekends. But, I don’t like the half aprons. During the day, typically, my ‘lower half’ is not what is dirty from all the things I’ve done, it’s always the top half. So a half apron, while adorable, would never work. So, typically, while at home I throw on an old Tshirt...grubby and ugly...yuck.
I love my fly lady, but don’t really care for her vest, sorry but it reminds me of a grandma, and while I don’t really qualify as young anymore, I’m not that old yet, either.
I am LOVING Laurel’s “Housewife Apron”. I am putting this on my sewing project list. I’ll let you know if it turns out!
Side note:
For those of you that don’t know Fly Lady, you must go to her website. She will get you organized and she also has AMAZING cleaning tools. I love her Rubba Scrubba, Rubba Swisha, Grocery bag set, fly duster, and rags in a bag.
