William Shakespeare

Alright, admittedly I am not a Shakespeare fan.  I find myself tuning out clouded by the 'fancy' language and sometimes unable to follow the plays because of it.  But, here in England he is a major hero and everyone is, rightfully, proud that he was a Brit.

I was watching Horrible Histories with the kids this morning, which if you don't know it is a funny sketch show based on the Horrible Histories books filled with funny, gory, and gross facts about history that appeal to kids.  So, it's fun to watch and you learn a few things, too.  One of the sketches on the show was William Shakespeare singing a song about all of his famous phrases, many that we still use today, and I thought I would share.  I never knew most of these were his. How many of these have you used?

"You've got to be cruel to be kind"
"If truth were known"
"Love is blind"
"Seen better days"
"Salad days"
"All the world's a stage"
"Quality of mercy is not strained"
"Such stuff as dreams are made"
"Off with his head"
"This is the short and long of it"
"Brevity is the soul of wit"
"As good luck would have it"
"Green eyed jealousy"
"Stand on ceremony"
"The Queen's English"
"It's Greek to me"
"Meat and drink to me"
"Infinite variety"
"A wild goose chase"
"You can't have too much of a good thing"
"If music be the food of love, play on"
"Et tu, Brute"
"Forever and a day"
"Good riddance"
"Fair play"
"Pure as the driven snow"
"High time"
"Lie low"
"Wherefore art thou Romeo"
"To be or not to be"

Tiger

So what is so sad about Tiger Woods?

Is it that he has probably done irreversible harm to his marriage?
Is it that he has probably hurt his wife and children more than he could ever imagine?
Is it that he will probably lose many of his endorsements?
Is it that he is no longer an acceptable role model?
Is it that he will be the butt of many jokes and talk show hosts for a long time to come?
Is it that he will now have this permanent stain on his image?

It’s all of these and more.

A colleague of Tiger Woods’, Ben Crane, has spoken calling Tiger “a phony and a fake” and says “this is no surprise to anyone who knows Tiger”. In other words, he’s a conman, a liar, an amazing salesman. He has sold us all an image of perfection, and we bought it, gobbled it up like a yummy piece of candy, convinced that he could do no wrong. With his charm, his grace, his amazing abilities, we were all drawn to him like moths to a flame. That’s why this is such a big deal. The charade is broken and we all feel a little, taken, cheated. What we now see is a very flawed man. He appears to be the thief that is sorry he got caught, but not sorry he stole. He will never be able to build up that illusion again, no matter how much he lives in the denial that it is there. It will always be there, sullying his reputation.

I really don't get this guy...

All Jon Gosselin does is talk about how he wants his privacy and then he goes and flaunts that he's with this little chippy. Why would you do this? It's just wrong and really thoughtless. I can't imagine what his kids will think when they're older and this all comes up for them. Just for the record, I have this picture labeled as douche bag...I think that says it all.

I want to be FIERCE like...

Meryl Streep.
Ok, so I don't know Meryl Streep, at all. I have never met the woman. But, I feel like in watching all the roles that she's done (Hello, 15 oscar nominations) that she encompasses a certain fierceness that I would love to have.

The Oscars

I REALLY loved the oscars this year. I think Hugh Jackman did a phenomenal job, the staging was amazing, and I loved how they had past winners personally present to the nominees. Whoever 'did' the oscars this year should do them every year!
Love her and her gown!

Guilty Concience?

Does anyone else ever think that maybe ‘they’ feel so guilty about what they had done in the past that they now feel compelled to repent by doing good deeds and making sure we all know about it?

I Love Martha Stewart

What do I love about Martha Stewart?

I love that she is herself. I love that she can have Ludicris on one episode and Eric Ripert on the next. I love that when she was in trouble, she stood up and took it on the chin and took it like a champ, and I like that she can talk about and even joke about her time away. I love that she is a very significant business woman, getting there on her own, but still likes to craft. I love that she caters to viewers across the spectrum, from Kmart to Macys. I record Martha's show daily and watch it all the time. I have used countless recipes, projects, and decorating ideas from her show and magazines. Thank you, Martha Stewart!
Oh, and one more thing...her circle cutter is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
